Coinbase Sets October 30, 2026 Deadline for Non-MiCA Stablecoins in EEA
Coinbase has told retail users in the European Economic Area to withdraw stablecoins that fall outside MiCA rules by October 30, 2026.
Coinbase has notified retail customers in the European Economic Area that stablecoins not compliant with the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework will be restricted on the platform, with a withdrawal deadline of October 30, 2026.
The notice asks affected users to move holdings of the impacted stablecoins off the exchange before that date. The measure applies to retail accounts in the EEA and stems from the region's MiCA regime, which sets reserve, disclosure and licensing requirements for stablecoin issuers serving EU customers.
What users are being asked to do
- Check whether held stablecoins are affected by the restriction
- Withdraw or convert affected balances ahead of the October 30, 2026 deadline
- Expect limited functionality for non-compliant tokens once the deadline passes
MiCA's stablecoin provisions have led exchanges across the bloc to review which tokens they can continue to list for EEA customers. Coinbase's notice is the latest in a series of deadline-driven adjustments as platforms align their offerings with the framework.
