Bitcoin Life Insurer Meanwhile Raises $37.5M, Total Funding Tops $180M
The Bermuda-regulated startup, backed by Bain Capital Crypto and Sam Altman, has now raised more than $180 million in total.
Meanwhile, a Bermuda-regulated life insurer focused on bitcoin, has raised $37.5 million in new funding, according to a report from Bitcoin Magazine. The round brings the company's total capital raised to more than $180 million.
Among the startup's backers are Bain Capital Crypto and Sam Altman, the report said. The company operates under Bermuda's regulatory framework and applies life insurance products to bitcoin holdings.
Estate planning demand
The raise comes as wealthy families look for ways to pass on bitcoin holdings to heirs, a use case that has drawn interest from insurers and financial firms as digital assets become a larger part of private balance sheets. The report did not specify a valuation or the terms of the round.
Bitcoin insurance remains a small niche compared with traditional life insurance, and structures that handle volatile assets for estate purposes still face questions around custody, valuation and regulatory treatment across jurisdictions.
