Binance-Linked Bitcoin Haul of 18,270 BTC Tops Tesla's Disclosed Holdings
Investigators attribute the roughly $1.4 billion stash to North Korea; the total sits 442 BTC below SpaceX's disclosed position, per CoinDesk.

Bitcoin tied to a Binance-linked theft amounts to 18,270 BTC, worth about $1.4 billion, according to CoinDesk. That total is larger than Tesla's disclosed bitcoin holdings and more than double El Salvador's national reserve.
The figure also comes within 442 coins of the bitcoin position disclosed by SpaceX, putting the proceeds of the attack in the same range as the largest corporate treasury allocations.
Blockchain investigators have attributed the attack to North Korea, according to the report, continuing a pattern of state-linked groups being traced through on-chain flows after exchange breaches.
Why the comparison matters
Corporate and sovereign bitcoin holdings are typically built through open market purchases and disclosed in filings or official statements. Stolen balances are not, which makes size comparisons a useful yardstick for how large the proceeds of exchange breaches can become relative to institutional buyers.
Attribution to North Korea rests on blockchain analysis rather than a court finding, and the funds have not been described as recovered. The comparison to Tesla, SpaceX and El Salvador reflects holdings as disclosed by those entities, not verified on-chain control of the stolen coins.
