Zcash developers plan per-swap keys to shield NEAR Intents refunds

Zakura aims to give each NEAR Intents swap a distinct key so public refund addresses cannot link a user's wider Zcash payment history.

The team behind Zakura, a project working on Zcash, is planning a change to how swaps are routed through NEAR Intents. The aim is to prevent a refund address left on NEAR's public chain from being used to expose a user's wider payment history.

Under the plan, every swap through NEAR Intents would receive its own key. That would stop a single refund address from acting as a persistent identifier across multiple swaps, reducing the chance that an observer could connect separate transactions to the same user.

Privacy and quantum concerns

The proposal is also framed as a way to keep Zcash swaps private from future quantum computers. The source does not detail the cryptographic method, so the precise scope of the quantum protection is not yet clear from the announcement.

  • Zakura is the team behind the proposal
  • The change targets swaps routed through NEAR Intents
  • Each swap would get a separate key
  • Refund addresses on NEAR's public chain are the exposure point

The proposal focuses on swap infrastructure around Zcash rather than a change to the base asset itself. It has not been described as a finalized or deployed update.
